Cluster Counting in Blackjack
Card counting is a good blackjack strategy to do for a win at blackjack. But card counting has a tendency to be limited in effectiveness when several decks are in the shoe. With this scenario, we need what is called a cluster counting blackjack strategy.
Cluster counting in blackjack is a concept that is premised on the assumption that cards tend to cluster or group themselves together by kinds or values in the blackjack shoe. Dealers shuffle cards to rearrange them anew before being dealt with, but cluster counting in blackjack says, with enough number of shuffles, cards tend to regroup together in a certain manner, no matter the many of card decks in a shoe.
It's something similar to this: if in a line of people numbering 40 in all, James, Peter, and John stand in such order, and if they are rearrange like, say, five times over, there's a likelihood that they would end up somewhat close together, if not in the same order as they were at the start. Cluster counting in blackjack assumes somewhat the same idea.
So, given that the above is true, the only thing to determine is in what part of the shoe the cluster of high and low numbers are located. And this is easy enough to solve. Just play the blackjack sessions, and wait for either the low or the high cards to surface from the shoe. When a succession of low numbers in blackjack begins to emerge, like say, 3,4,7,5, the conclusion is that low numbers have grouped themselves at that deck level. But once high numbers begin to appear like, say, 10, jack, ace, the next card may be a jack or another ace or another 10.
With new reshuffled cards in a shoe, observe the emergence of cards from it, while imagining how the deck of cards are placed or divided in the shoe. For instance, take careful note of how the 10s and face cards and aces emerge. Such is how they are portioned in the shoe. Remember well the classification of the grouped cards in blackjack that emerge from the shoe---good or poor hands, high or low cards---and note well also how they are discarded in the discard tray afterwards. Then, as the dealer reshuffles the cards, try to imagine where the cards have been placed in the shoe.
Cluster counting in blackjack is picturing what happens to cards in the shuffling and in the shoe.
